Setiabudi Sub-district Water Resource Implementer Unit Coordinator, Hendra, said the dredging is an anticipatory effort to prevent flooding.

"The thickness of the mud and rubbish sediment has reached 15 centimeters. We will immediately dredge it to overcome the shallowing," he said, Friday (7/5).

Hendra explained that the dredging of the channel with a height of 58 centimeters and a width of 55 centimeters was carried out along a length of 100 meters.

"We deployed five Blue Taskforce personnel with supporting tools," he added.

The dredging, he continued, was started on June 30, 2024 and is completed today.

Adimas (44), one of local residents, appreciated the water channel dredging. It is because low water capacity can trigger water to overflow onto roads and residential areas.

"Hopefully the channel can hold a lot of water and the flow will be smooth so that there are no puddles in our environment," he hoped.
